Descent Into Wonder
The Threshold
Across mythology, transformation never begins with arrival but with crossing a threshold.
The hero enters the forest, the cave, the temple, or the underworld—leaving behind the familiar world in order to encounter something deeper. These spaces operate as zones of transition, suspending ordinary rules and opening the possibility for change.
Applied to architecture, the threshold becomes more than an entrance. It becomes a sequence of moments that gradually separate the visitor from everyday life, preparing them to inhabit a different state of mind.
Progressive Revelation
The most meaningful journeys cannot be understood all at once.
Sacred landscapes, ancient cities, and ritual spaces reveal themselves progressively through movement. Meaning emerges through discovery rather than immediate visibility.
Architecture can operate in the same way. Rather than presenting itself completely, space can unfold gradually through hidden rooms, changing perspectives, concealed passages, and carefully orchestrated moments of surprise. The experience becomes one of exploration rather than observation.
The Three Realms
Many cosmologies organize existence into distinct yet interconnected worlds, each representing a different aspect of human experience.
Casa Nàyade translates this archetypal structure into architecture through three realms: Cosmos, Magma, and Oceania.
Together they create a spatial journey between contemplation and celebration, solitude and community, restoration and play. The house becomes a landscape of emotional states rather than a collection of rooms.

Architecture as Discovery
The project began with a simple question: what if a house could be experienced like a journey rather than a destination?
From the outset, we wanted to resist the contemporary tendency to reveal everything immediately. The architecture is organized around the idea of progressive revelation, where spaces emerge gradually through movement rather than presenting themselves all at once.
This logic informed the entire project. Hidden entrances conceal private suites. Corridors expand unexpectedly into gathering spaces. Openings frame fragments of the landscape before revealing broader views. Throughout the house, moments of compression and release create a rhythm of anticipation and discovery.
The three levels were conceived as distinct realms, each carrying its own atmosphere and emotional purpose. Cosmos is elevated, contemplative, and connected to the horizon. Magma becomes the social heart, organized around nourishment, fire, and gathering. Oceania descends into immersion, restoration, play, and sensory experience.
What connects these worlds is not a formal gesture but a narrative one. The house is designed as a sequence of thresholds that slowly guide guests away from the outside world and into deeper states of presence, connection, and wonder.
