The Inner Tide
Dual States
The natural world rarely exists in a single condition. Coastlines shift between high and low tide, day gives way to night, and seasons move between growth and stillness. Balance is not found in permanence, but in the ability to move between opposing states.
The house embraces this same duality. Solid yet open, intimate yet expansive, calm yet social, its architecture is designed to accommodate contrasting ways of inhabiting, allowing each moment to find its own place.
A Gradual Unfolding
The most meaningful experiences are rarely revealed all at once. Like approaching the shoreline, the transition between land and sea unfolds gradually through changing textures, temperatures and horizons, preparing both body and mind for a different state.
The architecture follows this same sequence. The journey begins in spaces dedicated to rest and retreat, flows naturally into shared living areas where architecture, water and landscape converge, and culminates on the rooftop, fully open to the sky and the horizon.
Emotional Landscapes
Architecture has the ability to respond not only to practical needs, but to emotional ones. Throughout the day we seek different conditions: solitude and connection, stillness and activity, protection and openness. A home should be capable of adapting to these changing rhythms rather than prescribing a single way of living.
The project becomes an emotional landscape where each space supports a different state of mind, allowing its inhabitants to retreat, restore and reconnect as naturally as the changing tides.

Architecture as Balance
Soul House was conceived around the idea that a home should respond to the different ways we need to live throughout the day. There are moments when we seek privacy and restoration, and others when we want openness, connection, and shared experience. The architecture needed to make room for both.
This led us to organise the house as a gradual progression. More protected spaces provide a sense of intimacy and retreat, while the communal areas become increasingly open, allowing interiors, garden, water, and views to operate as one continuous environment.
Water became an important part of this organisation. Rather than functioning simply as an amenity, it accompanies the architecture and helps define different conditions throughout the house. Together with changes in light, scale, and exposure, it creates subtle shifts in how each area is experienced.
We also wanted the building to feel substantial without becoming closed. Strong architectural volumes establish privacy and permanence, but carefully positioned openings allow those volumes to release toward the exterior, culminating in spaces that are fully exposed to the sky and horizon.
The result is a house that does not prescribe a single way of living. It provides different degrees of intimacy, openness, activity, and rest, allowing its inhabitants to move naturally between them as their needs change.
